Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is a sitemap, and why should I care?
A sitemap is like a map for search engine robots (like Google's crawler). It's a file that lists all the important pages, videos, and files on your website. You should care because it helps search engines find and properly index all your content, especially new pages or pages that are deep within your site structure. If Google can't find a page, it can't rank it!
Is this tool only for basic sitemaps, or can it handle huge websites?
It handles all of them! Our tool is built with recursive technology. This means that if a website uses a main sitemap that just points to 100 other sitemaps (which is common for very large sites), our tool automatically follows and analyzes all 100 nested sitemap files to give you the complete picture instantly.
What does it mean if my sitemap shows an "Error" status?
An "Error" status (like a 404 or 500 code) means the search engine can't access that specific sitemap file. This is a serious problem! If a sitemap has an error, any pages listed inside it are much less likely to be found and indexed by Google. You should immediately check your website settings or contact your developer to fix the broken file path.
How does this tool run so much faster than others?
We use something called parallel fetching. Imagine you have 50 sitemaps to check. A traditional tool checks them one-by-one (50 separate connections). Our tool checks many of them at the same time (all 50 connections happen almost simultaneously). This saves huge amounts of time, giving you results in seconds.
My website is new. Which sitemaps should I look for?
If your site is built on WordPress, you will most likely find a file called wp-sitemap.xml or sitemap_index.xml (if you use an SEO plugin like Yoast or Rank Math). Simply paste your domain, and the tool will automatically check these standard locations for you. If nothing shows up, make sure your SEO plugin is active and configured to generate a sitemap.
